Exercise Physiologist develops, implements, and evaluates exercise programs for patients. Conducts testing that assesses cardiovascular and metabolic effects of exercise for cardiac and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Being an Exercise Physiologist follows testing protocols and selects appropriate testing protocol for the patient. Monitors patient during testing. Additionally, Exercise Physiologist calculates and records testing results. Coordinates with cross-functional patient care teams. May design exercise prescriptions, instructional materials, home exercise guidelines, and discharge instructions. Conducts exercise training sessions for patients. Requires a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology. Typically reports to a manager. The Exercise Physiologist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. IMC is currently looking for an Exercise Physiologist to join our Cardiac Rehab department, on a Part Time basis . The Exercise Physiologist will perform evaluations on patients who are beginning Cardiopulmonary Rehab, monitor patient stats before, during and after exercise, maintain proper record keeping of patient charts, educate patients on the disease process, with an emphasis on the importance of exercise, and more.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Master of Science, Exercise Physiology; required Previous experience preferred, but not required LSBME Licensure Knowledge of blood pressure and heart rate analysis Basic knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary systems
PRINCIPLE TASKS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform
evaluations on patients beginning Cardiopulmonary Rehab Monitor patient
HR, BP, EKG, O2 Sat, and Symptoms before, during, and after exercise Maintain
appropriate record keeping in patient chart Maintain clean
and safe work and exercise environment Educate patients
on the disease process and the importance of exercise Coordinate all
