Exercise Specialist identifies risk factors and designs specialized strength and conditioning programs for patients. Teaches patients proper exercise techniques. Being an Exercise Specialist educates patient and family members on proper techniques for transitioning from a hospital-based fitness program to a safe and effective home exercise program. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in exercise science. Additionally, Exercise Specialist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Exercise Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Expected pay for this position is $24.61 - $28.96/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Exercise Physiologist Provides and directs medically prescribed exercise therapy for all patients referred by PCP based on CMS, ACSM, AACVRP, ACE, Tivity and AHA guidelines. Monitors clinical status and modifies exercises/activities based on assessment. Provides education regarding chronic illness, health risk factors, and lifestyle modifications to patients/caregivers based on exercise physiology concepts, disease processes and adult learning principles. Supervises work, training, and scheduling of Exercise Physiologists and Exercise Instructors. Coordinates and supervises various programs for special populations. Manages grant funds for complementary care services for cancer patients/survivors. Operates as the first line of support for Medical Exercise and Cardiac Pulmonary Exercise staff to ensure quality, safety, and continuous process improvement.
