The Junior Graphic Designer will support the Graphic Designer with design, print production, and maintenance of museum graphics. The ideal candidate should have strong communication and organizational skills, along with the ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently. The Junior Graphic Designer may undertake other assigned departmental tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Graphic Designer, duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with developing and implementing cohesive museum exhibition graphic standards and procedures for all exhibition signage and ancillary signage.
• Organize and maintain design files and templates relating to museum standards and signage.
• Design and print exhibition related signage that may include labels, maps, and other exhibition needs. Also responsible for coordinating the installation of graphics with Installation staff.
• Design, print, and install museum event-related signage such as lobby signs, Art After Dark event signs, etc.
• Communicate and schedule with vendors for graphic production and installation as necessary.
• Contribute ideas and feedback in exhibition concept meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, or similar discipline
• 2 years of graphic design experience
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
• Basic knowledge of accessibility standards in visual design
• Strong understanding of print production-ready file setup and delivery
• Experience with large-format printers is required, or an avid willingness to learn quickly
• Some environmental design experience preferred, but not required
• A strong portfolio demonstrating an understanding of design principles, color theory, and typography
