TITLE : Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS : Certification by the Kentucky Department of Education in
Administration
Ten years teaching experience, preferred
REPORTS TO : Special Education
SUPERVISES : Implementation of MTSS in all Schools
JOB GOAL : The MTSS Coordinator serves as support and coach at the school and classroom levels in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of multi- tiered system of support including, but not limited to, response to intervention, positive behavioral interventions and supports, social emotional learning and interconnected systems framework.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- Work is performed while standing, sitting and / or walking.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull weights up to thirty (30) pounds.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics as established by the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB).
- Incorporate the diverse perspectives of multiple communities and backgrounds in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
- Understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities
- Articulate the district's vision and mission in a clear and concise way that is understood at any level.
- Collaborate with the district leadership team to ensure successful development of new approaches to teaching and learning including resource acquisition and alignment to the strategic plan.
- Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development; keeping current with literature, and attends professional meetings, workshops, and seminars as they relate to performance responsibilities
- Coordinate the implementation, monitoring and improvement of school MTSS per district, state and federal guidelines.
- Assist school administrators in the implementation of MTSS and serve as facilitator of the MTSS Committee.
- Monitor school and classroom use of MTSS for continuous improvement.
- Keep abreast of laws, regulations, research and educational development at the national and state level. Use and distribute information as appropriate to performance responsibilities.
- Collaborate with the Director of Exceptional Children Services to coordinate early intervening services by providing quality interventions to struggling learners;
thereby reducing inappropriate referrals and disproportionality of identified students.
Collaborate with school administrators to design an individualized plan for each school that is focused on the implementation of MTSS.

- Evaluate, purchase, distribute, and provide support for intervention materials.
- Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development by attending workshops, conferences and meetings, and reading professional literature.
- Knowledge of research findings and recent trends in MTSS
- Knowledge and proven expertise in increasing student achievement and closing gaps
- Ability to communicate knowledge effectively to others
- Ability to develop certified and classified staff professionally through effective coaching strategies
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with administrators, teachers, and staff.

- The ability to translate good ideas into action.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer, Superintendent, or Director of Special Education for coordination of early intervention services.
