    The Research Administration Manager position reports to an OFS Financial Manager and is a critical role within the division. This position manages research administration activities from proposal preparation through closeout on behalf of the Division of Extension: Reviews and approves proposal submissions, contract negotiations, project setups, compliance, and/or financial reporting. Develops and oversees implementation of operations and strategic planning to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements within the Division of Extension. Responsibilities for this position include:

    - Executes research administration operational policies and procedures including financial, administrative, staffing, and compliance on behalf of a unit
    - Reviews and approves programmatic transactions spanning the life-cycle of sponsored projects to ensure compliance with institutional and/or sponsor policies and procedures
    - Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit as well as a liaison to partners and stakeholders
    - Executes activities related to proposal submission, contract negotiation, and/or award setup on behalf of a unit
    - Executes activities related to financial compliance, audit, or reporting on behalf of a unit
    - Provides training to faculty, staff, and/or administrators within the unit regarding policy, procedure, and/or execution of sponsored project administration
    - Review and negotiate agreements on behalf of the unit

    • 10% Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit as well as a liaison to partners and stakeholders
    • 40% Executes activities related to proposal submission, contract negotiation, and/or award setup on behalf of a unit
    • 10% Executes activities related to financial compliance, audit, or reporting on behalf of a unit
    • 10% Provides training to faculty, staff, and/or administrators within the unit regarding policy, procedure, and/or execution of sponsored project administration

    Qualifications:

    Required:
    - At least 2 years of experience in research administration or grants management
    - Proven ability to develop and manage budgets
    - Experience with financial tracking systems for the development of reports and projections
    - Understanding of extramural funding, including federal and state grants and contracts with external partners
    - Knowledge of accounting, financial systems software and analytics
    - Effective oral and written communication skills, independent problem solving and analytical skills, attention to detail and organization, as well as a team- and service-oriented approach
    - Commitment to enhancing diversity through inclusive design and language with significant skills and experience working
    with people as individuals, groups and staff, specifically from a position of leadership

    Preferred:
    - Familiarity with federal granting agency policies and procedures
    - At least 5 years of experience in in research administration or grants management
    - Familiarity with university accounting policies and procedures, including purchasing, travel, reimbursements, and cost transfers
    - Knowledge of research compliance requirements such as IRB review, outside activities reporting, and conflict of interest matters
    - Experience providing post award financial management for sponsored project portfolios
    - Experience training others
    - Experience managing finances within an institution of higher education
    - Knowledge of applicable University, System, State, Federal, Non-Federal, and Land-Grant fiscal and administrative rules,
    regulations and procedures including 2CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance), 0MB Circulars A-21, A-133 and A- 110 and USDA
    systems and reporting requirements
