Exploration Director directs and develops an organization's oil and gas exploration projects. Analyzes and evaluates the opportunities, risk and profits for oil and gas deposits exploration. Being an Exploration Director initiates exploration plans based on compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Directs geological and geophysical programs and may have oversight for land acquisition and leasing activities. Additionally, Exploration Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Exploration Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Exploration Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Title: Director of Religious Exploration (DRE)

    Classification: Salaried Exempt Position

    Hours Required: Full time.

    Salary and Benefits: Salary $58,000-$70,000 depending on experience. Benefits include pension, professional expenses, professional development, paid vacation, sick leave, and generous paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

    Organizational Relationship: Employed by the Board of Directors, under the supervision of the Minister.

    Position Summary: The Director is responsible for planning and administering the Religious Exploration (RE) Program. The objective of this program is to promote and support the spiritual and ethical development of the congregation’s children, youth and adults, through Sunday morning classes, workshops, camps, and other group activities.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Foster and Support the Spiritual Development of AUUF Children and Youth.

    • Provide leadership for Religious Exploration (RE) programming.
    • Maintain familiarity with Unitarian Universalist traditions, practices, religious education, philosophy, teaching techniques and resources.
    • Promote children and youth in the overall life of the congregation.
    • Encourage and facilitate the integration of new children and families into AUUF.
    • Work collaboratively with the AUUF minister and committees to assist with multigenerational worship services.
    • Provide resources to support the faith and values development of the Congregation’s children and youth.

    Support Volunteers and Staff in the Religious Exploration Program.

    • Provide an environment of learning and growth for lay teachers, youth advisors, and volunteers in their teaching experience; enhance their morale and cohesion.
    • Help recruit teacher and childcare volunteers.
    • Oversee the array of youth-focused programs from pre-school through high school.

    Administration of RE Program

    • Organize and maintain class curricula, RE resources and supplies, the RE library, registration and attendance records, and RE archival records.
    • Work with teams to ensure a safe physical environment for all people involved in the RE program.
    • Recommend and manage the RE program budget.

    Maintain Communication with the AUUF Community and the UU Association.

    • Participate in staff meetings, Board meetings, and other committee meetings as needed.
    • Generate publicity for the RE program, including brochures, publications and through the use of social media.
    • Coordinate with community youth groups, including social action and service projects.
    • Maintain contact with national and regional Unitarian Universalist organizations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
    • Knowledge of child development and appropriate teaching techniques.
    • Three years of experience as an educator, preferably in religious education.
    • Good relational and management skills for use in training and coaching volunteers and coordinating events.
    • Skill, tact, diplomacy and proficiency in working with adults and children.
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
    • Ability to design, plan and implement youth programs and events.

    . Detail-oriented and self-motivated; must be able to work both independently and with a team.

    • Strong ethics and ability to manage confidential information.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Computer software skills – media, email, web searches, utilization of Word and other related programs.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

    • Must be able to physically work in a classroom environment (set up, take down rooms, carry/transport materials up and down stairs).
    • Must be able to travel; maintaining a current driver’s license is preferred.
    • Must be physically able to navigate the church campus, including the use of stairs.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $58,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
