Exploration Director directs and develops an organization's oil and gas exploration projects. Analyzes and evaluates the opportunities, risk and profits for oil and gas deposits exploration. Being an Exploration Director initiates exploration plans based on compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Directs geological and geophysical programs and may have oversight for land acquisition and leasing activities. Additionally, Exploration Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Exploration Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Exploration Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     What we are looking for:

    • Collecting GIS (Geographic Information System) datasets from public and other available sources
    • Evaluation of geospatial data sets for freshness, quality, and accuracy
    • Utilize tools and experience to continually improve current environment and processes
    • Execute on quality assurance of data sets and workflows
    • Entry of key mapping metadata and other information as requested
    • Answer questions and provide analysis on GIS questions
    • General office admin duties as assigned
    • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming requests and issues related to computer systems, software, hardware, and audio-visual technology

    Ideal candidates will have:

    • Certificate or Degree in Geography, computer science, or other GIS-related discipline.
    • Minimal experience required with a related degree
    • Candidates without a degree in a related discipline will be considered with job experience related to job duties and requirements
    • Esri ArcGIS Desktop or Pro experience
    • ArcGIS Pro Experience is preferred
    • Esri ArcGIS file management experience
    • Experience in multi-user environment is preferred
    • Candidate must be detailed oriented
    • Candidate must have good communication skills
    • Field data collection and utility mapping experience preferred
    • Use of ArcGIS Collector, Trimble GPS data collector or other Survey or Mapping Grade software/hardware preferred
    • Works well in team environment
