    Description

    Impac Exploration Services, a leading oil and gas exploration service company, is currently seeking a motivated and eager-to-learn Trainee Mud Logger to join our team in the Permian Basin in West Texas. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to learn and develop the skills necessary to become a highly proficient Mud Logger. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced professionals and receive comprehensive training in all aspects of mud logging operations.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Assist experienced Mud Loggers in monitoring and analyzing drilling operations, including collecting and processing gas and cuttings samples.
    2. Learn to operate and maintain air and electric agitator motors, hotwire and FID gas chromatograph equipment, and other related tools under supervision.
    3. Acquire proficiency in TLog, MainLog, and Excel software to record, analyze, and interpret drilling data.
    4. Collaborate with geologists, drilling engineers, and other team members to gain a thorough understanding of drilling operations and safety procedures.
    5. Develop effective communication skills to professionally interact with team members, management, and clients.
    6. Learn to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to data collection, equipment performance, and software functionality under guidance.
    7. Display initiative in identifying and implementing improvements to processes and procedures, contributing to the team's overall efficiency and success.
    8. Adhere to company policies, safety procedures, and industry best practices at all times.

    Qualifications


    Requirements:

    1. High school diploma or equivalent; pursuing or completed a Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field is a plus.
    2. No prior experience as a Mud Logger required, but any relevant experience in the oil and gas industry or a strong interest in geology is advantageous.
    3. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new software applications, including TLog, MainLog, and Excel.
    4. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to think critically and adapt to changing situations.
    5. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey information and learn from others.
    6. Punctual, reliable, and committed to maintaining a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
    7. Self-motivated and driven, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team under supervision.
    8. Willingness to work in a remote and challenging environment, including long hours and potential exposure to harsh weather conditions.
