The Opportunity
Explorations are 2-week experiential programs for high school students designed to live at the intersection of academics and industry. Our Explorations allow young people from around the world the opportunity to explore majors, careers, the state of research, and the future of the field, through hands-on learning and site visits.
Position Overview:
Our Criminal Investigations class focuses on how law enforcement, forensic analysts, attorneys, and others all play a role in the process of investigating crime.
- As an Instructor, you will engage with a dynamic, project-based curriculum crafted by experts, yet retain the flexibility to infuse your teaching with your own expertise and interests.
- You will guide students through an experience that emphasizes collaboration, critical thinking, and real-world problem solving.
- You'll facilitate connections with guest speakers, industry professionals, and companies that are shaping the future in your field.
Instructor Responsibilities
- Review existing project-based curriculum and work closely with our Program Director to customize it based on your areas of interest and research
- Teach approximately 5 instructional hours per weekday, in addition to all necessary class preparation
- Chaperone off-campus academic trips with your class, in order to integrate the experience with curricular content
- Write end-of-summer course evaluation reports for each student, in consultation with, and with the assistance of, EXPLO year-round staff
Applicant Requirements
- An interest in teaching in a hands-on and interactive environment
- Professional or academic experience in the field; ideally, you will also hold a graduate degree in a related field.
- Availability to work on campus for the duration of the program — preference will be given to applicants who can commit to both 2-week sessions
Dates, Compensation, and Training
- The courses will run from June 29 - July 26, 2024 (two 2-week sessions).
- Dates for pre-season, remote training (primarily the review of lesson plans and course content) will be discussed as part of any job offer.
- On-campus, in-person training will take place on Saturday, June 29.
- Compensation: $6,000 to $8,000, based on relevant training and experience. Lunch is provided while instructors are on campus.
