Extrusion Operator sets up and operates an extrusion machine in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and customer requirements. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery. Being an Extrusion Operator adjusts and cleans machines. Documents work performed as required. Additionally, Extrusion Operator may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. The Extrusion Operator possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Title: Extrusion Operator
Reports To: Extrusion Supervisor
Shift: Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm

As an Extrusion Operator you will operate all functions of plastics extrusion production lines, focusing on meeting quality standards and expected productivity levels. You will lead other team members through the change-over process efficiently and thoroughly, which includes activities involved with tear-downs, die cleaning, and set-ups.
Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
· Conduct pre-start-up audit to ensure all necessary and required steps have been followed and equipment is ready for start-up according to engineering set-up parameters.
· Enter accurate production information in our ERP System and communication logs.
· Support and assist with training and general direction for Material Handlers and Inspector/Packagers.
· Perform good housekeeping and safety practices at all times.
· Relieve Inspector-Packagers and/or Material Handlers for breaks and lunches, as needed. Ensure that all job functions are handled properly in their absence.
· Assist with R&D and continuous improvement projects, as assigned or available.
· Generate and transfer materials within the ERP system as needed.
· Supply all retains or samples as required by QC with appropriate recorded information.
· Make sound judgments regarding product quality, consult with technical resources as needed.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; Technical degree a plus.
· Experience in manufacturing and machine operation, particularly with plastics extrusion processes, is highly preferred.
· Past experience which demonstrates “hands on” mechanical/technical aptitude.
· Experience with the operations of plastics extrusion equipment (preferred, but not necessary). Extrusion process training offered.
· Ability to learn new processes quickly and troubleshoot effectively while maintaining high standards of quality.
· Ability to operate all quality equipment as required (gloss meter, color meter, etc). Training provided.
· Tow motor certification (internal training required)
· Competent computer skills (specific software application training provided)
· Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
