Role :

The role of the Glass Precision Bore and Shrinking Operator is a key support position for the production department. This individual must be self-motivated.

Willing to learn the next level shift supervisor duties and responsibilities desired. They will need to communicate clearly and regularly with the shift quality technician(s), shift supervisor, and co-workers and assist in the optimization of the production process.

Attention to safety, product quality, productivity, and housekeeping are critical to the success of the individual'

s performance in this position. This role is an integral part of the department's success.

Environment :

• Manufacturing plant
• Can be very hot during certain seasons.

Essential Job Functions :

• Setup of machines, equipment, and supplies to start a product cycle
• Able to shrink glass to create precision bore with both Borosilicate and Quartz type glass.
• Inspect parts and components with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and comparators.
• Maintain optimum visual and dimensional product quality of production.
• In-process inspections of machine-related problems or flaws
• Communicate operational and product non-conformities.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data collection entry.
• Perform minor machine / equipment adjustments in order to optimize machine. performance and product quality, and correct problems that might occur during shift.
• Maintain activity logs and records of approved and defective units or final products.

Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions :

• Manual dexterity
• Ability to read and process work orders and procedural documentation. (English)
• Visual ability to perform detailed machine and product inspection.
• Continued attention to detail in fast-paced, repetitive, working environment.
• Ability to lift approximately 1-10 pounds approximately 5-20 times per hour.
• Extensive standing while performing duties as required.
• Diligence to manage time effectively.
• Technical skills, including but not limited to interpreting product specifications.
• Use of measuring and mechanical tools.
• Math skills, including but not limited to calculating material and packaging required and reading Statistical Process Control (SPC) quality graphs.

Qualifications and Experience Required :

• 3-years of experience with shrinking glass.
• 1-year minimum successful employment in positions requiring visual attention to detail during repetitive physical activity in a fast-paced environment
• Proven working knowledge of diverse machinery and measurement tools.
• Understanding of production processes.

Education Required :

• High School diploma or GED
• Technical degree a plus
