Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Director directs training of managers, supervisors, and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Facilities Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     This position plays a pivotal role in providing senior leadership to both the Engineering and Security divisions, ensuring the hotel is in excellent working order and the safety of colleagues, guests and vendors is preserved. Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Day to day oversight of both Engineering and Security colleagues and leaders
    • Oversight of all Capital Planning projects and process, including presentation to senior leadership and ownership
    • Establish and achieve the annual budget, as well as reforecasting projected expenses throughout the year
    • Responsible for training and oversight of all emergency and life safety situations
    • Plan, organize and direct activities concerned with the maintenance of structures, facilities and systems
    • Develop and implement quality control programs
    • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations
    • Coordinate with city officials in relation to building code, planning/zoning, community design and safety/security needs
    • Management of contractors, vendors and hotel contracts
    • Management of utility systems
    • A focus on preventative maintenance for the facility and equipment
    • Report incidents relating to colleague and/or guest safety
    • Oversight of general liability claims
    • Manage shipping and receiving process
    • Support with guest and colleague investigations
    • Oversight of colleague safety and compliance training and certification to ensure compliance
    • Support of hotel Safety Committee
    • Coach and counsel colleagues and leaders

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 3 years of progressive hotel facility management experience
    • Knowledge of local laws, investigative methods and fire safety
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbally), with the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently to multiple constituents both at the property level and above
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word is required
    • A genuine desire to cater to the needs of others in a high-paced environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
    • Must embody the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, effective communication, proficiency in delivering exceptional customer service, and the ability to enhance profitability.
    • Demonstrates excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
    • This position involves extended periods of being on your feet, walking long distances, kneeling, reaching, and lifting moderate weight (up to 50 lbs). Prospective candidates should be physically capable of meeting these demands.
    • A degree in Hotel/Hospitality is considered an asset.
