Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Director directs training of managers, supervisors, and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Facilities Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.       DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
      1. Hold Valid West Virginia Professional Administrative
      2. Applicant should have effective communication and interpersonal
      3. Applicant must have at least (3) successful years of experience in school administrative work.
      4. Possess a high level of computer competency and training skills, including but not limited to Smart Find Substitute Calling System, Microsoft Office, email, and software applications, etc.
      5. Demonstrate knowledge of federal, state and local policies regarding transportation, facilities, safety and maintenance.
      6. Strong writing and communication skills.
      7. Demonstrates effective organizational skills.
      8. Ability to meet deadlines.

      REPORTS TO: Superintendent and/or designee

      RESPONSIBILITIES: All administrators must: maintain valid administrative licensure at all times, renew administrative/educator licenses as set forth by WVDE, maintain positive work habits, perform duties as assigned and directed, maintain and upgrade professional skills, communicate effectively and exhibit professional administrative knowledge and strategies.

      JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
      1. Oversee and provide guidance in the following areas:
      1. Transportation
      2. Maintenance
      3. Facilities
      4. School Safety
      Transportation
      2. Coordinate, plan, and implement the student transportation system for Doddridge County Schools.
      3. Communicate with and advise the Superintendent on school closure decisions. Communicate with appropriate agencies to determine road conditions. This task will involve late night and/or early morning travel to determine road conditions throughout all parts of the county.
      4. Organize and execute appropriate programs of in-service education and safety for all employees of the transportation department.
      5. Work cooperatively with building principals and other County level administrators to resolve student discipline issues related to transportation.
      6. Maintain knowledge of Federal, State, and County statutes, rules, and regulations related to the Transportation function.

      Facilities/Maintenance
      7. Evaluate/Plan/Create Comprehensive Educational Facilities Plan (CEFP).
      8. Work collaboratively to prioritize facility needs.
      9. Oversee, organize, and direct Doddridge County Schools maintenance and groundskeeping operations, activities, and related services; develop and administer schedules and work assignments.
      10. Plan, coordinate, and supervise all projects.
      11. Develop and organize long-range, on-going, and preventive maintenance plans and programs for sites, buildings, and equipment, including procedures for receipt and assignment of maintenance work orders and for equipment maintenance and replacement programs.
      12. Communicate with other administrators, personnel and outside organizations to coordinate work, construction, supply, equipment and personnel requirements.

      School Safety
      13. Develop, implement, and oversee an effective school safety plan to include preparation, prevention, response, and recovery.
      14. Develop, maintain and monitor procedures to assure compliance with federal, state and local health and safety related standards.
      15. Coordinate safety and health operations to ensure compliance with regulatory agency standards.
      16. Coordinate/Schedule safety drills.
      17. Oversee school nurses.

      General
      18. Determine staffing needs and conduct interviews.
      19. Oversee the preparation and presentation of appropriate training for county personnel.
      20. Oversee and coordinate school service personnel.
      21. Coordinate, plan, and implement the Service Personnel Staff Development Council.
      22. Provide leadership and support in his/her area of responsibility.
      23. Establish and maintain good public and employee relations.
      24. Maintain professional work ethic.
      25. Conduct needs assessments.
      26. Conduct performance evaluations for employees.
      27. Conduct other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

      TERM: 261-Day contract to begin July 1, 2024.
