Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Director directs training of managers, supervisors, and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. Requirements
Education: High School graduate required. Technical education or further education highly desired.
Experience: 5-7 years in public building maintenance and housekeeping management experience required; Health Care experience highly desired. Experience in Emergency Management a plus. Supervisory experience required.
Skills: Basic building maintenance and housekeeping skills. Excellent organizational /prioritization skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various business applications, technical procedures, and government regulations. Strong grammar skills, written and oral. Computer skills, including all Microsoft Office software to include Word and Excel. Effective oral and written communication skills. Attention to detail and good record-keeping skills a must.
Knowledge: Basic principles of service and sanitation. Ability to create a maintenance schedule, Ability to troubleshoot. Knowledge of structure or grounds to be maintained, Knowledge of maintenance procedures, systems to be maintained (e.g. Electrical, roofing, A/C)
