Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Director directs training of managers, supervisors, and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. SUMMARY:
Manage department of Plant Engineering Maintenance and Grounds. Establish goals, objectives, standards of performance, develop and implement operating policies and procedures; interpret policies, standards, regulations and codes to department personnel. Plan, organize and oversee the functions of the Clinic including, but not limited to, planning, design, construction, renovation, maintenance and disposal of plant facilities and equipment; loss prevention management functions including, but not limited to, safety, security and fire prevention/protection. Oversee environmental services, grounds, mail room, maintenance, couriers and the hazardous waste program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering or equivalent education/experience. Advanced degree in management or business administration is desirable. A minimum of five years experience in supervising of skilled craftsmen and general maintenance personnel required. Healthcare facilities maintenance experience is a must. Knowledge of computers for establishing monitoring systems and controls for inventory accounts, work request and project management. A sound knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ICRA, ILS, Life Safety Codes and the building and electrical codes. CHFM certification is preferred.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position, and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day.
