Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Director directs training of managers, supervisors, and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor plans and supervises the daily maintenance work for all Agency sites, both scheduled and emergency maintenance. Will coordinate and expedite facilities maintenance, repair and minor-construction projects according to pre-determined schedules and handle emergent needs from Agency programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises employees in Facilities Maintenance operations and coordinates the activities of independent contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requires: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and three years related experience such as but not limited to experience in facilities maintenance, construction or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Strong computer skills. Valid CA Driver's license.
