Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Director directs training of managers, supervisors, and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Facilities Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • The Director of Facilities is responsible for the oversight of all facility operations and management for Oro Valley Hospital.

    Directs an organization's facilities department. Oversees the functioning of building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, and elevators. Manages the maintenance of buildings and grounds. Oversees contractors for facility renovation projects entailing HVAC, electrical systems, and production floor arrangement. Responsible for maintaining readiness for regulatory compliance surveys like Joint Commission. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.

    Education

    Required: High School or 4 years of experience in Healthcare or Hospital Facilities.
    Preferred: Post high school vocational/Specialized training: Apprenticeship trade/technical school training in electrical, HVAC, plumbing or millwright.

    Experience

    Required: Two (2) years leadership experience in maintenance or facility operations in a healthcare or hospital environment;
    Preferred: Experience in an acute care hospital environment with large power plants.
