Facility Technician
(non-exempt)
LOCATION: Paiute Palace Casino, Bishop, CA
SALARY: $15.50
RESPONSIBLE TO: Maintenance Manager/Director of Property Management
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide custodial, maintenance and repair to building structure and premises; minor
carpentry, painting, etc., inform supervisor of necessary repairs and/or conditions requiring
outside technical and/or professional services. Ensures that the Wanaaha Casino
buildings and grounds are clean and maintained in proper order. Works variable shifts
assigned by the supervisor. Applicant should be aware that the Paiute Palace Casino is not a
smoke-free environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. An excellent appearance is demanded at all times. Must always be in proper uniform
and always be friendly and courteous.
2. Provide maintenance and repair to the building structure and premises; minor carpentry,
painting, etc.
3. Provide general maintenance of heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical systems;
inform supervisor of necessary repairs.
4. Maintain outside grounds; lawn care, keeping parking lot and grounds clean.
5. Other custodial duties include: cleaning of lavatories, vacuuming and cleaning carpets,
sweeping, mopping and waxing floors, window washing, cleaning of walls, cleaning and
dusting of gaming machines, gaming tables and administrative offices.
6. Supervise supply room, tool needs, equipment and the inventory necessary for on-going
maintenance.
7. Order all supplies necessary for maintenance, cleaning and lavatories.
8. Supervise maintenance help that may be assigned.
9. Must be able to work any shift including splits, evening, weekends and holidays
according to established procedures.
10. Poor attendance or a poor attitude will not be tolerated. Must be cooperative with all
departments, assisting wherever necessary.
11. Help keep the casino neat and clean. During tours and while at duty station, employee
will assist in enforcement of Casino cleanliness policy by picking up trash and depositing
it in receptacle and assisting in the cleanliness of the Casino.
12. Able to learn techniques required to keep sanitary system in functioning order.
13. All other casino related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma, HSED or GED is required. Education beyond high school, military
and job related experience would take precedence in selection.
2. Must meet requirements to qualify for a Bishop Gaming License. Must pass an extensive
background security check. Can have no money related felony convictions within the
past ten (10) years, no records of money related criminal convictions of any kind in the
past five (5) years.
3. Ability to inform and communicate orally and in writing in diverse and challenging
situations is required.
4. Ability to process information effectively to learn new materials, identify and define
problems and to make decisions is required.
5. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters. Must be dependable, possess
initiative, be energetic and self-motivated.
6. Must possess the ability to interact with the public and fellow employees, tribal
enterprises, county and state agencies demonstrating respect, tact, courtesy, objectivity
and maturity to develop an effective and cooperative working relationship
7. Ability and willingness to attend additional training is required. Basic carpentry skills are
desired; knowledge of modern cleaning methods and repair techniques.
8. Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must maintain driver’s
license as a condition of employment. Must have and maintain a home telephone for
immediate contact.
9. Must be able to lift and handle weight up to 25 pounds.

education and experience are less than the stated requirements may be interviewed and hired
provided the applicant hired submits a formal written training plan within 30 days which can be
completed within a reasonable time agreed upon by the supervisor and the applicant. Applicant
who is hires and fails to meet the agreed upon formal training program will be discharges upon
failure to complete the specified training as scheduled.
A drug test will be required to employment and periodically thereafter.
