The Facilities Mechanical Engineer will support the site operations of GE Research, with focus on multiple projects in support of the mechanical design and operational needs of the Research Center. This includes ensuring safety and efficiency of operations across the organization, managing complex issues within functional areas of expertise, and involvement in long term planning.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Serve as a Mechanical Engineer working for the Facilities organization
- Design industrial type systems– including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building service piping, central utilities, and process systems
- Design Process Equipment installations
- Troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment
- Lead and drive successful installations and commissioning, repairs, improvements, and shutdowns
- Develop technical drawings and specifications for construction and developing on-site facility mechanical requirements
- Team with contract engineers and outside engineering/architectural consultants to put together design specifications and drawings for construction packages
- Provide direction to Tinsmiths, Pipefitters, Mechanics, Technicians, and other staff disciplines to support projects and maintenance efforts
- Assume ownership of mechanical systems within specific buildings on campus
- Perform field work to validate existing systems, databases and record drawings with as-built conditions
- Review Process Equipment
- Building Management System experience
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Facilities Mechanical Engineering
- US citizenship is required

- 12 years of experience in Facility Engineering
- AutoCAD proficient
- Working knowledge of NFPA, OSHA and New York State Building Code
- Ability to handle multiple diverse activities simultaneously

- Strong project and team leadership
- HAP or other HVAC load calculation software proficiency
- Honeywell and Automate Logic Experience
- Experience directing a represented workforce
- New York State Professional Engineering license
- Revit Proficient
- PLC and VFD experience
The salary range for this position is $77,000 - $128,000 USD annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. [If applicable] In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive plan.
