Summary of Job: The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the ongoing operations of Spirit Rock events, classes, and retreats. This position performs urgent and regular maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and vehicles and also performs groundskeeping and land care projects as directed. The Facilities Maintenance Technician reports to the Assistant Facilities Manager. Specific Responsibilities: Coordinate and complete maintenance and janitorial projects to meet the needs of all facilities Fully participate in the support of the logistics for retreats and events (event set-up, breakdown and maintenance needs) Recommend maintenance, repairs, safety priorities and solutions to Assistant Facilities Manager Maintain tools and equipment inventory Ensure that there is sufficient supplies/inventory on hand to fulfill job duties Maintain campus cleanliness (indoor and outside) and perform custodial duties as required Partner with other facilities team members and other staff on the emergency preparedness programs Help train and mentor new staff in maintenance and safety procedures Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: Four year’s experience in a similar position(s) Demonstrated knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and painting Have a valid CA driver’s license (Driving histories are checked for insurance purposes.) An ability to work on multiple projects at one time Work with minimum direct supervision and operate effectively on a team Proficiency with computers and related software and technology including WindowsOS/MS Office and Google Docs Working Conditions: This work week is 37.5 hours but this position may be required to work outside of the regular work week and will be required to work overtime on occasion. Ability to work outdoors including exposure to seasonal weather conditions Ability to sit, walk or stand for extended periods including walking up and down stairs, ladders and hillsides Ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects up to 50 pounds Ability to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks Ability to communicate clearly on a telephone and walkie-talkie This position will be exposed to chemical substances that are typical for maintenance and janitorial work. Must be able to regularly speak and write in English Specific vision abilities required are close vision, middle distance vision and color vision
