Overview
The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing various functions that include repair and maintenance of boiler, air compressors, wastewater, and all HVAC related equipment. The leader will also be responsible to manage fire systems and alarms, work orders, and projects of the building and grounds, and all waste removal resulting from production and wastewater. Effectively managing parts inventory/accuracy, work orders/PM’s, staffing requirements, and implementing practices and procedures that support the Company’s current business model are essential for success. The Facilities Supervisor works out of our Auburn, KY, facility and reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the identification and implementation of practices, procedures, and service systems that will successfully address day-to-day maintenance and facility issues and create opportunity to improve future production capacities and/or productivity
- Oversee implementation and compliance with all equipment and inventory, environmental issues, and health and safety aspects for the departmental workforce
- Effectively manage all work orders and preventive maintenance schedules that are associated with boilers, air compressors, fire suppression, refrigeration, HVAC, and all wastewater equipment
- Analyze equipment issues, identify solutions, or determine options for resolution and ensure repairs to the facility and/or equipment are carried out on a least cost basis
- Create and maintain appropriate work orders, reports, and records, including information related to repair turn-around time
- Oversee capital projects that are assigned in his/her jurisdiction, including sourcing contractors, assisting with estimating, and project take off
- Monitor inventory needs based on inventory levels and maintenance trends, place purchase orders to ensure stock levels meet turnover goals and maintain complete, accurate, and timely records regarding inventory management
- Develop and maintain good communication practices with departmental Production staff to advise of lead times required to obtain maintenance parts, and/or services
- Participate in regular discussions and/or meetings with the Maintenance/Facilities Manager with regard to determination of budget items related to maintenance and other related issues
- Ensure appropriate staff levels to meet the maintenance and service requirements of the Department, including recruiting, hiring, terminating, and oversee the development of an efficient and safe workplace and workforce
- Comply with all safety training and departmental SOPs, and with all regulations relating to equipment and chemical approvals for a food manufacturing facility
- Ensure that all reporting employees are aware of, and comply with, company policies and procedures related to health and safety and to the environment and commit to personal compliance with same
- Any other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a technical field or commensurate experience in a maintenance role
- Three to five years’ supervisory experience in a maintenance or facility management role, providing a solid working knowledge of manufacturing maintenance requirements and best practices
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in relevant technologies, codes and/or workplace safety compliance
- Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
- Ability to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environment.

- Excellent time management and project management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully both independently and with diverse groups within a team environment

- Proficiency in MS Office and competency in other relevant technical software is an asset
- Extended hours may be required at times
