Facilities Maintenance Manager
Facilities Mission: Support the entire organization by providing consistent and effective Grounds, Mechanical/Shop, Maintenance, and Custodial services.

The Facilities Maintenance Manager is based on site and leads the 8-10 member Maintenance team (Maintenance Team Leads, Technicians, Custodian) to provide essential support services for the Sanctuary’s physical plant and infrastructure. The position includes oversight for Mechanical, Grounds, Equipment Operators, Fabrication, and Custodial services. The successful Maintenance Manager is a skilled problem solver and communicator.
- Effectively lead, develop and manage the Facilities Maintenance team

Provide time sensitive, effective support for all Sanctuary operations and infrastructure
- Develop a positive service culture across the organization – consistency, communication, responsiveness, accountability.
- Proactively plan and implement maintenance best practice strategies across the facility

Oversee and coordinate work order system and associated budgeting and reporting.

Assist with facilities and landscape project planning, design and implementation

Ensure sustainability best practices are in place
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
-
Provide team leadership and development to maximize employee effectiveness.

Recruit hire, train, coach and evaluate Maintenance team and performance.

Oversee contractual service providers, maintenance and custodial services assigned to the facility.
Management
-
Schedule and oversee work order assignments and reporting through work order software system.
- Inspect, identify, coordinate and schedule repairs.

Ensure safety compliance for the department and throughout the campus, with Safety Coordinator.
- Ensure Sanctuary waste management, storage, disposal and sustainability system is consistently maintained.

Oversee and ensure custodial services and litter control are consistently maintained within best practice expectations.
Communication

Serve as liaison for the Sanctuary, responsible for all Facilities Maintenance department internal communication.
- Network with external vendors, contractors, community training resource organizations and technical schools to develop relations and cultivate reliable resources.

Provide timely progress reports and regularly update work order and project planning schedules and timelines.
Planning and Logistics

Source project and program services, materials and supplies in consideration of Sanctuary sustainability goals, with Supply Manager

Manage logistics, safety, communications and scheduling for assigned repairs and projects

Participate with strategic planning to improve productivity, quality control and efficiency of the Maintenance program, with COO, Planning & Sustainability

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES

High school diploma or equivalent required
-
5 years of management experience managing and leading skilled technical teams
- 5 years of progressive responsibility in construction/facilities management
-
Ability to lead, motivate, and manage work teams to support organizational objectives and goals

Thorough working knowledge of applied mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electricity and electronics as well as the use, repair and maintenance of programmable logic controllers

Demonstrated ability to diagnose and solve problems
-
Knowledge of federal, state and local construction, safety, fire, health and sanitation statutes, codes, and ordinances

Working knowledge of facilities operations, preventative maintenance procedures and security protocols

Knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA occupational health and safety rules, regulations and requirements as well as accessibility and signage requirements of the ADA

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering and architectural drawings and designs, mechanical drawings, engineering and architectural specifications, diagrams
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook

Ability to use facilities management software, Mpulse a plus

Working knowledge of auto CAD or Revit software is a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Able to sit, stand, walk, climb ladders and reach with hands and arm.

Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. on a continuous basis throughout the work day.

Able to work outdoors year round in all weather conditions.
