Facilities Planner plans building or refurbishment projects focused on effectively utilizing spaces and resources to support the organization's physical facility and space needs. Conducts evaluations of current facilities to assess short-term and long-term space needs and produce feasibility studies. Being a Facilities Planner prepares and reviews designs, layout plans, specifications, and standards that comply with building regulations, industry best practices, and organizational requirements. Estimates costs for labor, materials, and services. Additionally, Facilities Planner generates, monitors, and updates project plans and timelines with task details, deliverables, and status updates. Coordinates construction and installation processes and expedites delivery of materials required by projects. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Facilities Planner occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     POSITION: Consulting Utility Forester

    TYPE: Full-Time, Hourly, Monday - Friday, some weekday overnight travel

    The Davey Resource Group (DRG) is currently hiring certified arborists, professional foresters, horticulturalists, natural resource specialists, environmental scientists, GIS technicians, and plant and outdoor enthusiasts to join our workforce.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with major gas/electric utility system and address its forestry needs
    • Inspect utility rights of ways and identify vegetation incompatible with state and federal regulations
    • Collect and enter data on handheld devices, follow maps and use GPS navigation
    • Communicate with landowners regarding work on or near their property
    • Work with tree crews to ensure understanding and adherence to work prescriptions
    • Assess all terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions
    • Coordinate with project managers, planners, and vegetation crews

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Embraces an outdoor and independent work environment
    • Thrives on adaptation, continual learning and training and is detail oriented
    • Possess knowledge of local tree species and species specific growth rates
    • Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather
    • Great communicator and team player
    • Two or four year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science or a related discipline
    • Utility vegetation management experience or similar experience in a related field (tree work industry, landscape professional)
    • Clean DMV driving record
    • Ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads
    • Ability to travel overnight when necessary
