Facilities Planner plans building or refurbishment projects focused on effectively utilizing spaces and resources to support the organization's physical facility and space needs. Conducts evaluations of current facilities to assess short-term and long-term space needs and produce feasibility studies. Being a Facilities Planner prepares and reviews designs, layout plans, specifications, and standards that comply with building regulations, industry best practices, and organizational requirements. Estimates costs for labor, materials, and services. Additionally, Facilities Planner generates, monitors, and updates project plans and timelines with task details, deliverables, and status updates. Coordinates construction and installation processes and expedites delivery of materials required by projects. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Facilities Planner occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for purchasing and negotiations of materials to support direct and indirect material spend requirements Develop current supply base to improve cost, delivery, and quality Drives sourcing initiative in new design process, ensure compliance with engineering specifications. Open order tracking and expediting with internal production and suppliers for assigned products. Inform others of updated status and delivery information Keeps abreast of market conditions, commodity pricing, product developments, and seek potential new sources of supply. Maintains accurate production schedules and supplier information in computer system Identifies cost savings opportunities for assigned products Substitutes for the other buyer/planners and participate in lean/ABS activities for the department as required.
