Individuals’ must have strong people skills, be confident in their ability to work with clients independently in home-based settings and have an eagerness to immerse themselves in the latest training offered to learn Trauma Informed Practices.
The Parenting Time & Family Support Specialist will provide supervised parenting time between parents and their children. County specific teams provide services to families within the following counties: Wexford/Missaukee, Grand Traverse/Kalkaska/Leelanau, Manistee/Benzie. During this parenting time, the Support Specialist shall provide education, encouragement and demonstration of things such as, but not limited to; parenting skills, life skills, communication skills, trauma education, community resource education, etc. The Support Specialist shall work with all parties involved (parents, children, foster parents, case worker, etc.) with collaborative communication to assess the needs of these parties. Responsible for: managing the details of the visitation schedule, supporting the family in attending visits that will include providing transportation using the worker’s personal vehicle as needed. Documentation required but not limited to: weekly case notes, completing regular assessments by writing and submitting service plans, safety plans and progress reports, etc. A flexible schedule based on the families’ needs is a must with hours anticipated to include evenings and weekends!
