Job Summary:
The Family Peer Support Service Worker assists the Children and Family Treatment Support Services (CFTSS)program in providing services to families in the areas where support and advocacy is needed, but do not require the full services of the Care Manager. Duties include escorting, advocacy, assisting families to access community resources, and family support. Accompany and transportation of children and families are essential components of the position.

This position will assist families to become independent and be prepared for transition and termination of services, assist in the intake and discharge processes of families, and other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
Family Peer Support will be delivered by a New York State Credentialed Family Peer Advocate (FPA). To be eligible for the FPA Credential, the individual must demonstrate ‘lived experience’ as a parent or primary caregiver who has navigated multiple child serving systems on behalf of their child(ren) with social, emotional, developmental, health and/or behavioral healthcare needs. At a minimum, have a high school diploma, high school equivalency preferred or a State Education Commencement Credential is required. This educational requirement can be waived by the State if the person has demonstrated competencies and has relevant life experience sufficient for the peer credential. Positions in Lower Hudson Valley require a valid, non-restricted Driver License. Bilingual in Spanish is required.
