VCFS, a community mental health provider, is presently seeking QMHP-C candidates for the
position of Intensive In-Home Counselor. This role involves delivering therapeutic interventions
in the homes of youth who are at risk of out-of-home placement. Both part-time and full-time
options are available, and the position may also involve additional hourly work in Mental Health
Skill-Building or Crisis Stabilization programs. A QMHP-C registration with the Virginia Board
of Counseling is mandatory for this role.
Position Summary:
The In-Home Counselor/QMHP-C delivers direct services, encompassing treatment plan
development and implementation for children and families, along with counseling and parent
skill training utilizing appropriate therapeutic interventions. Operating independently, the In-
Home Counselor works in clients' homes and various community settings, employing innovative
clinical interventions derived from best practices and acquired counseling techniques to engage
effectively with children and families. Willingness to travel throughout Metro Richmond area is
required to deliver intensive in-home services to clients.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
*Must have QMHP-C (Qualified Mental Health Professional – Child) certification. This
position requires a person in the human services field who is trained and experienced in
providing psychiatric or mental health services to children who have a mental illness. A
criminal background check is required for this position, along with a search of the
Virginia Department of Social Services/Child Protective Services Central Registry.
