The Mechanic-Heavy Equipment position bay be a union or non-union position , depending on the hiring location. If you primarily report to our White Bros-Lynch Corp Office on the Vineyard, you will be a non-union employee and eligible for e xceptional benefits including a medical plan, basic life insurance, a pension plan, Child Care Subsidy, holidays, and paid time off, all 100% employer-paid! A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MECHANIC / TRUCK DRIVER

As a Mechanic, you play a critical role in making sure our equipment is functioning and operable in a timely manner. From diagnosing equipment and ordering parts, you ensure that equipment is working correctly and ready to be used in the field.

You perform scheduled maintenance, dismantle devices, remove defective parts and test vehicle / equipment performance, all while maintaining a clean work area.

You work mostly independently throughout the day, communicating with the Shop team, the field personnel, and dispatch to ensure everyone is kept up to speed on equipment repair.

You occasionally jump into a truck (dump, tractor-trailer, sweeper, water truck), when asked, pitching in with the crews on the jobsite, and demonstrating those hard earned CDL skills.

Safety is a priority in everything you do.

Applying strong technical skills , you apply your knowledge of machinery repair to get our equipment up and running quickly.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MECHANIC / TRUCK DRIVER

High School Diploma or two (2) years of vocational or technical training plus at least two (2) years of experience diagnosing and repairing heavy construction equipment;

or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A valid CDL A driver's license, medical card, clean driving abstract.
• Ability to meet Federal DOT requirements, including Drug & Alcohol Query and Safety Performance History.
• Must have (or be able to obtain) a Hoisting Engineer's license (1C & 2A preferred).
• Must have (or be able to obtain) OSHA 10 certification. OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
• Must have (or be able to obtain) Hotworks certification.

Technical training in mechanical repair on both trucks and heavy equipment AND two years of related work experience are strongly preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.

Experience with equipment used in the civil construction industry, including asphalt work, and experience operating different types of construction trucks is highly desired.

Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical work is strongly preferred. Basic welding skills is a plus. First aid / CPR & OSHA 30 certifications are also preferred but not necessarily required.

Basic computer, tablet, or smart phone skills are desired.

WORK SCHEDULE

Our standard shop hours are Monday-Friday, 6 : 00 - 4 : 00 pm . Occasionally, this position will perform night and weekend work on rotation.

This position will also perform field calls as directed. On / Off-island travel is required.
