Job purpose:

Instruct and supervise individuals training within a commercial kitchen environment. Overseeing operation of food service cart for community-based food site, assisting in the planning and preparation of foods needed at sites, exercising direct supervision of individuals at community-based site, providing training to increase individual’s skill level to prepare for competitive placement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Act as a Vendor Delivery/Prep Person/Cashier.
• Receive supervision from the Food Service Manager.  Much of daily operations with individuals served must be coordinated without direct supervision.
• Provide supervision and training to elevate individuals’ vocational skill level, this would include food production, service, money skills and appropriate interaction with customers.
• Expedite quantity and quality of all food products.
• Distribute and utilize equipment and work materials which frequently include lifting, carrying, crouching, pushing, pulling and reaching.
• Responsible for the menu planning for job site, to include daily lunch specials, soups, breakfast items and other foods needed.
• Responsible for getting appropriate supplies ordered and transported to site.
• Facilitate individual’s social and vocational integration at the community-based site.
• Collect daily data on assigned individuals and documentation of all observations.
• Ensure individuals compliance with all rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Routinely practice emergency evacuation procedures at community-based site.
• Provide cashiering duties.
• Maintain site up to state codes keeping work areas free of hazard with materials well organized.
• Responsible for daily deposits and ensure monthly totals balance.
• Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma.
• Experience working in a fast-pace commercial kitchen environment.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to possess a State of CT Public Service License.
• Must maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• You are required to be in possession of a car on site during your entire shift to transport yourself and/or individuals to community sites in all weather conditions and throughout all neighborhoods.
• Depending upon assignment, must be able to work in a variety of settings, weather conditions and locations.
• Must maintain PMT and CPR certification.
• Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office and the internet.
• Work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
• Work independently, utilize good judgment, and possess a strong sense of initiative.
• Do math calculations, use a calculator, cash register and scale.
• Communicate clearly in oral and written form on a constant basis.

Physical Requirements:

• Provide hands on personal care which may include toileting, feeding, cleaning and all other activities of daily living skills.
• Ability to transfer individuals requiring personal hygiene care.
• Have physical endurance to use physical crisis intervention techniques which may include restraining individuals.
• Provide physical intervention which may include lifting, mobility, first aid, and safety evacuations.
• Stand/walk 90% of workday.
• Move weights up to 20 lbs. on a frequent basis and up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
