Field Engineer - Construction delivers on-site technical oversight support to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineer - Construction follows quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consult with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineer - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. Attends project meetings to provide technical input and present recommendations to improve construction processes. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Field Engineer - Construction work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.   • Under direct supervision of a Project Manager this position supports field operations on various assigned projects. This position works closely with Project Managers and ensures that all assigned job sites have the material, equipment and information needed to get the job done correctly and on time.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Write, transmit, and track request for information (RFI) per contract documents, and distribute to appropriate subcontractors
    • Compile a submittal log, based on contract documents, that is tied to the master project schedule
    • Review, transmit, and track submittals. Ensure responses are routed to all relevant subcontractors.
    • Maintain a permit tracking log to ensure appropriate sign offs and timely renewals.
    • Assist superintendent with field measure and layout to assure procured materials comply.
    • File, track, and transmit sketches and memos that result after construction documents are issued.
    • Ensure timely and accurate distribution of drawings and other relevant contract documents.
    • Collect and maintain as-built and redline drawings for project closeout.
    • Issuing drawings and specifications to subcontractors for bid.
    • Send bid invitations to selected subcontractors and vendors.
    • Assist PM in writing instructions to bidders
    • Review subcontractor bids for compliance to the contract documents and identify any long lead items.
    • Track daily quantities and costs utilizing a combination of software systems
    • Assemble and submit material approvals and work plans
    • Assist and support the Project Manager with the project start up meeting.
    • Coordinate the assigned work tasks, prepare the project schedule and maintain the project schedule throughout the project.
    • Support field in expediting schedule, completion of field paperwork, expediting materials.

    • The ideal candidate would have an Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while working under time constraints.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
    • Certified and Trained: CPR/First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Trenching & Excavation, and CESL.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage projects and tasks simultaneously while working under time constraints

    Compensation RangeThe salary range includes the minimum, midpoint, and maximum base salary values. A candidate's offer can vary depending on differentiating factors, including but not limited to education, training, or experience.
    • $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 Annually  DOE
