Field Engineer - Construction delivers on-site technical oversight support to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineer - Construction follows quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consult with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineer - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. Attends project meetings to provide technical input and present recommendations to improve construction processes. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Field Engineer - Construction work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. In this role you will get to work on a high-profile manufacturing facility construction project in Idaho. Essential Duties Responsibilities Validates installed quantities versus reported physical progress by CM versus engineering drawings. Also works to validate that contractor work authorizations and validate Change Requests from CM and Subcontractors reflect correct credits and debits of individual material quantities. Advising project management team on improvements and new strategies. Measure and estimate building and material costs for projects. Prepare reports about projected building costs. Work collaboratively with stakeholders in the preparation of estimates/ cost plans. Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Estimators, and Project Controls personnel Report, track, and resolve non-conformance issues in coordination with QA/QC Verification of basic layout and field measurements Prepare task completion reports. Prepare quantity take offs. Verify Quantities by field measurements. Monitor Field Activities of General Contractor PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 4-year degree in a related engineering discipline is required. Typical incumbents have at least one year of related experience at a field construction site. Requires a working knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as some familiarity with industry practices. Also requires good written and oral communication skills. In addition, familiarity with CAD and other software packages typically associated with engineering and construction is required.
