Field Engineer - Construction delivers on-site technical oversight support to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineer - Construction follows quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consult with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineer - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. Attends project meetings to provide technical input and present recommendations to improve construction processes. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Field Engineer - Construction work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Summary:

    Field Service Engineers utilize skills in mechanical, fluid power, electrical and electronic systems to install, repair, and maintain equipment at customer facilities throughout the United States and foreign countries.


    Essential Functions:

    1. Supervises installations and may participate in installs. Services machinery and equipment in customer's establishment, according to specifications.
    2. Assembles and installs electrical and electromechanical components and systems, using hand tools, electrical testing instruments, and wiring diagrams.
    3. Inspects, troubleshoots, and diagnoses for repairs and services equipment, following manufacturer’s instructions.
    4. Repairs or supervises repair of worn or defective machinery or equipment in customer's location.
    5. Modifies previously installed equipment to ensure compatibility with new units or with design changes.
    6. Offers retrofit and design improvements on existing equipment, if applicable.
    7. Installs equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
    8. Determines preventative maintenance and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
    9. Conduct tests to determine whether equipment, software, or procedures are operating as expected.
    10. Consults with customer and engineering staff to resolve design and operational problems.
    11. Participates in debugging and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of machines in the manufacturer's plant to become familiar with machine operation.
    12. Operates machine through trial run at customer's establishment to ensure that quality and operation meet specifications.
    13. Confers with customer representatives to determine effective methods of machine operation for specific tasks.
    14. Trains customer personnel in operating, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing machinery or equipment.
    15. May be asked to assist in the identification of training needs and participate in the development of machine-specific training programs.
    16. Travels as required (up to 50% of the time).
    17. Additional duties as required.

    Requirements

    Required:

    1. Must be able to meet security clearance requirements and pass background checks for access to secured customer facilities.
    2. Experience installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.

    Preferred:

    1. Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a technical field, or equivalent work experience and demonstrated technical capability.
    2. Experience using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
    3. Five years of experience in the installation and service of complex industrial systems.
    4. Broad background in industrial control hardware and software, tool and die operations, welding, fluid power, mechanical systems, and hydraulics.
    5. Working knowledge of Windows-based personal computers and software.
    6. Ability to program industrial control hardware, PLCs, motion control, operator interface terminals, and data acquisition equipment.
    7. Perform complex analysis, plan and perform a wide variety of duties, and have exceptional judgment with experience as a team leader.
    8. Represent the Company in a professional, positive manner.
    9. Develops plans to accomplish work and prioritize and organize one's own work.
    10. Handles multiple, and often conflicting, priorities.
    11. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    12. Ability to effectively instruct customer operators and repair technicians.
    13. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
