Field Engineer - Construction delivers on-site technical oversight support to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineer - Construction follows quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consult with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineer - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. Attends project meetings to provide technical input and present recommendations to improve construction processes. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Field Engineer - Construction work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.   • Sayres, a renowned leader in defense support services to the US Navy and DCSA, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer with a current SECRET clearance, verifiable in DISS in Pascagoula, MS. This position may offer hybrid work arrangements based on customer discretion. This position may require occasional travel to Gulf Coast customer locations.

    Responsibilities:

    As a Ship Construction Engineer supporting the Naval shipbuilding industry, you will play a pivotal role in providing engineering and technical expertise throughout various phases of ship design and construction. Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Contract Design and Detail Design: Collaborate in contract design activities and detail design, ensuring shipbuilder adherence to technical requirements.
    • Perform routine shipboard inspections to assess construction progress and quality; report back to Govt customer with real-time metrics and develop recommendations and solutions for improving schedule/cost/scope efficiencies.
    • Shipboard Installation Support: Offer technical support during shipboard installation, ensuring proper installation and integration of design elements.
    • Special Studies: Engage in special studies focused on enhancing ship systems, equipment, and operational efficiency. Interface with NAVSEA Ship Design Manager (SDM) to facilitate on-site design issues.
    • Marine Engineering: Provide comprehensive marine engineering support for Piping, Electrical Propulsion, HVAC, and related HM&E ship systems.

    Minimum Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in DoD/DoN program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management.
    • Active Secret Clearance verifiable in DISS.
    • Ability to work in industrial (shipyard/shipboard) environments.
    • Experience with Government shipbuilding regulations, practices, and instructions.
    • Experience communicating with senior level Government and Industry personnel.

    Preferred Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates:

    • 5-14 years of experience in DoD/DoN program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management.
