Field Engineer - Construction delivers on-site technical oversight support to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineer - Construction follows quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consult with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineer - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. Attends project meetings to provide technical input and present recommendations to improve construction processes. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Field Engineer - Construction work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Sustainment & Restoration Services (SRS) is an 8(a) firm that provides engineering, science, construction, munitions, and specialized professional services solutions for customers nationwide.

    SRS has an immediate full-time opening for a Field Engineer at Santa Barbara/Ventura, CA and project sites (nationally). We are looking for a staff level position with 0-3 years of experience who is motivated to take on a role of increasing responsibility and would be primarily in the field, but also have office support duties.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Field Event Planning, Data Collection, Subcontractor Oversight

    • Review and understanding of all relevant work plans and health & safety plans prior to initiating field work.
    • Fulfillment of data quality objectives (DQOs) for all field collected data and samples; responsible for data quality during pre-field preparations, field work execution, sample management, and documentation.
    • Supervision and direction of subcontractors and review of their work products.
    • Soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, air, and waste characterization sampling per established protocols and approved sampling and analysis plans.
    • Complete all required field documentation; provide to project manager or archive as directed.
    • Support and conduct field work preparation as directed including ensuring all necessary subcontracts are in place, all materials and equipment are in hand, and any training or reviews are completed before hand.

    Project Support

    • Provide project management support such as tracking schedules, preparing routine progress reports.
    • Support project procurement activities including developing subcontractor scopes of work, researching subcontractors, pricing, tracking status of bids, and coordinating with contract manager.

    Data Evaluations/Reports (under Senior Technical Supervision)

    • Support development and refinement of conceptual site models per established project objectives and approved work plans.
    • Initiate research and develop accurate and relevant descriptions of site geology and hydrogeology, including geologic/hydrogeologic/geochemical/biological/etc. controls on contaminant fate and transport.
    • Evaluate potential receptors (surface water, extraction/production wells, human, ecological) to contaminated groundwater, soil vapor.
    • Evaluate fate and transport of chemicals of concern.
    • Produce data visualization products (work with CADD/GIS on products).

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BS or MS in engineering or geology
    • 0 – 3 yrs experience
    • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
    • Good communication skills, verbal and written
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Willing to travel within California and nationally; generally not more than 2-3 weeks at a time
    • Must be able to pass Federal Background Check in order to gain access to project sites
    • Must be able to pass DMV check and maintain acceptable driving record

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • HAZWOPER training/certification
    • Familiarity with ArcGIS and field data collection software program
    • Strong technical writing skills

    Compensation Range:

    • $66,560
