Field Engineering Manager - Construction supervises on-site technical oversight activities to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineering Manager - Construction enforces quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consults with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Owners' representative to act as liaison with construction and engineering contractors during construction, commissioning and start-up of new steel manufacturing facility. Position will focus on electrical construction, but knowledge of all disciplines is preferred.
Knowledge of critical construction quality requirements.
Facilitate critical communications to Construction Management group to provide input for contract in early stages of construction projects prior to award.
Monitor contractors work progress according to their QC plan.
Lead QA audits and inspections of work installations prior to turnover to plan operations teams.
Familiar with or previous experience with construction documents such as isometrics, PIDs, 3D models, owner piping codes, civil-underground and structural steel drawings, rotating equipment and vessel drawings, electrical single line diagrams and architectural drawings, quality best practices, safety standards, ASME, APO, AWS and similar codes of construction.
Multi discipline experience preferred including civil concrete and structural steel, Mechanical/piping, vessels, reactors, rotating equipment, electrical equipment such as transformers, motor control centers, termination of motors, power distribution <1000V, and process controls/ instrumentation. Shop and field fabricated piping fabricated piping, working knowledge of NDE methods, shop and field fabricated structural steel.
Lead process to ensure field installed equipment and piping, electrical systems are completely documented, code compliant and in full compliance with owner quality standards assuring safety in all facets of construction.
This role will be primarily on plant site, may involve some travel to supplier shops, and a mixture between the plant site, and office areas with multiple concurrent projects. Significant time will be spent in the field inspecting for proper installation. Applicant does not need to be expert in all areas.
Applicant must be willing at times to cover off hour work (night, weekend, or overtime) as applicable.
Some overnight travel to vendor/supplier shops within United States may be necessary, or to other sites within project area or region.
Pre-Outage, Outage & Post Outage - Construction Management experience.
Construction Supervision.

Experience across multiple functions. At least 5 year's experience in Capital Construction or Construction Inspection.

Strong motivational skills
Good trouble shooting ability especially as it relates to analyzing all possible failure modes and taking measures to mitigate their occurrence.
Good understanding of construction quality assurance best practices, within chemical plants.
