Field Engineering Manager - Construction supervises on-site technical oversight activities to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineering Manager - Construction enforces quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consults with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineering Manager - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. Procures and coordinates any additional resources required to support field engineering activities. Attends project meetings to provide technical input and recommend improving construction processes. Construction Engineering Technician, Project Manager, Laboratory Technician and Geotechnical Engineer
Powers Engineering and Construction Testing, LLC is seeking construction and engineering field technicians, QC/QA inspectors, laboratory staff, project managers and Geotechnical Engineers for the 2024 season.
Our field technicians observe contractors on commercial and civil construction sites and perform basic soils, concrete, asphalt and masonry tests to ensure that testing, materials, and inspections comply with drawings, specifications and other applicable industry standards.
The ideal candidate will:
Be able to interpret project plans, drawings and specifications, anticipate construction issues and recommend solutions
Provide written documentation of construction observations and materials
Maintain accurate construction records
Have good math, written, and oral communication skills
Be able to manage own time with little supervision
Prior construction or engineering experience is strongly preferred. Ideal candidates will have concrete field technician (ACI and PennDOT) and asphalt field technician (PennDOT) certifications. This would be an ideal summer job for Civil Engineering students.
We are also currently in need of inspectors with a PE license, EIT, NICET Level IV certification or at the very least a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology. This is for a long lasting project in the Pittsburgh area involving concrete, soils and asphalt testing and inspection.
We also have an office position open for a candidate who has a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and plenty of experience with construction testing, inspection and geotechnical engineering as well.
Part time and full time positions are available. We have plenty of members on our team who are semi-retired and love taking on some part time work.
