What You'd Be Doing:
As a Field Service Technician moving into a management role, you will:
- Start under the guidance of a manager to grasp our operational flow before independently managing job sites.
- Ensure a safe work environment to prevent any injuries.
- Manage customer interactions, providing technical advice with a customer-first mindset.
- Travel regionally, with occasional overnight stays as needed (roughly one night a month)
- Perform technical measurement services, including preventative maintenance, calibration and adjustments, troubleshooting and repair.
- Educate and train customers on equipment as required.
- Maintain, clean, and properly use tools, safety equipment, and vehicles.
- Operate forklifts/cranes as needed, although not a requirement for most job sites.
- Collaborate with coworkers across all branches to enhance the services of Great Lakes Scale.
- Aim to take and pass the Handbook 44 tests in Michigan and Ohio, certifying legal for trade scales when necessary.
- Learn to manage our software systems to create and manage work orders for you and other technicians when applicable.
- After 6 months to a year be able to handle the ins and outs of the Fort Wayne branch to our standards, able to cover the scheduling and workflow. Ensuring all jobs get completed as needed.
Qualifications:
- Preferred to have 3 years of work experience in the technician industry, ideally in the scale industry.
- You hold at least a Class B CDL, with a valid driver's license and the ability to travel to job sites.
- You possess a high school diploma or GED, along with mechanical/electrical experience and a passion for hands-on work.
- You're self-driven, capable of working overtime, in all weather conditions, and can repetitively lift and carry weights up to 50lbs.
