    Our field force consists of highly qualified, IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) journeymen electricians and linemen. These employees are supported by experienced project management, estimating, engineering, accounting, and administrative personnel, who together make us one of the leading New York City electrical contracting companies.

    SUMMARY

     

    The CAD Operator/Field Engineer will assist the engineering in the preparation of shop, and as-built drawings as required during the construction. Also, he/she should be able to survey, sketch and layout conduits and equipment. The position entails drafting and coordination of the electrical installation work, in accordance with the contract documents, with other members of the overall Project Team, translating contract drawings into 2D and 3D installation drawings.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    • Provide support to the Director of Engineering and field office.
    • Must have the ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently with minimal oversight.
    • Work with the Systems Manager to facilitate and support the testing work being performed in the field.
    • Work with the Project Manager and Field Supervision to develop Plans for future work.
    • Utilize Revit MEP or AutoCAD MEP to create installation shop drawings and sketches from contract drawings.
    • Responsible for surveying and layout of electrical systems, including cable trays, busduct, conduits and equipment in 3D for BIM coordination.
    • Participate in customer, project, and design meetings to gather and review project related requirements and resolve conflicts with other trades.
    • Must be able to develop and understand point to point drawings.
    • Communicate project status to report target delivery, productivity, and quality of design.
    • Prepare and manage communications internally and with general contractors or construction managers for assigned projects.
    • Travel to various project sites to gather information and determine limitations and feasibility of the design.
    • Maintain confidentiality of engineering department and company information.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

     

    • At least 1 year experience in the electrical industry.
    • High School diploma or GED required.
    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering are desirable but not required.
    • Basic Knowledge of the electrical construction industry, contract documentation, and the National Electrical Code and design.

     

    COMPUTER SKILLS

     

    • Proficient in AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, and Navisworks.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel applications.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
