Field Superintendent - Construction oversees the daily construction activities of contractors, foremen, and workers at a work site to ensure projects follow schedules. Coordinates the procurement, delivery, and placement of materials and equipment on-site as required to execute each phase of a construction project. Being a Field Superintendent - Construction follows construction schedules and monitors daily and weekly progress to ensure project milestones are achieved. Troubleshoots any issues involving workers, contractors, safety, quality, changes, or processes and expedites solutions to keep the project on track. Additionally, Field Superintendent - Construction directs or conducts inspections to audit the quality of workmanship and materials and compliance with specifications and standards. Completes the required status, change, or timekeeping reports. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a project manager. The Field Superintendent - Construction supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Field Superintendent - Construction typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Salado Isolation Mining Contractors (SIMCO), an LLC of Bechtel, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Superintendent to join our Capital Asset Project team located in Carlsbad, NM.

    The successful candidate will be assigned to a field construction organization in a supervisory capacity. Responsible for supervising and directing operations within assigned discipline or area. Supervises and directs Craft activities, subordinate superintendents and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budget. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Responsible for field construction operations within assigned discipline or area.
    • Determines manpower requirements. Coordinates established area operational plans. Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
    • Prepares schedules, construction methods and procedures.
    • Supervises and directs subordinate personnel and craftsmen in construction activities within assigned area.
    • Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, job manpower forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
    • Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
    • Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
    • Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas, and clients’ resident representatives as instructed by construction management.
    • Performs personnel evaluations on subordinate personnel.
    • Ensures that all SIMCO, State and Federal safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied within as-signed area of responsibility.

    Exempt Salary Grade (28-32)

    Minimum Qualifications: These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and applications are the means of determination.

    • Bachelors degree in engineering or scientific discipline or
    • Associates degree in engineering or scientific discipline with four (4) years of work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above or
    • High school diploma or equivalency with eight (8) years of work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.

    Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See
