Field Superintendent - Construction oversees the daily construction activities of contractors, foremen, and workers at a work site to ensure projects follow schedules. Coordinates the procurement, delivery, and placement of materials and equipment on-site as required to execute each phase of a construction project. Being a Field Superintendent - Construction follows construction schedules and monitors daily and weekly progress to ensure project milestones are achieved. Troubleshoots any issues involving workers, contractors, safety, quality, changes, or processes and expedites solutions to keep the project on track. Additionally, Field Superintendent - Construction directs or conducts inspections to audit the quality of workmanship and materials and compliance with specifications and standards. Completes the required status, change, or timekeeping reports. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a project manager. The Field Superintendent - Construction supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Field Superintendent - Construction typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Duties Include
- Coordination of daily on-site operations including construction processes, procedures, forecasting, project planning and sequencing
- Manages all aspects of costs related to projects including budgeting (ie. production, material purchasing, subcontractors)
- Oversees project schedule to ensure deadlines are met
- Manages productivity and performance of their jobsite to meet on-time and in budget job completion.
- Maintain a safe work environment by conducting onsite construction safety meetings
- Manage onsite subcontractors
- Work with owner or owners representative on site
- Communicate with project manager on project status, concerns, production, creative ideas
Qualifications
- Civil /Heavy Highway Construction knowledge
- Accurately read and interpret plans and specifications of each job
- Ability to set priorities, forecast upcoming work and appropriately allocate resources
- Creating a climate of accountability with everyone on the team.
- Setting and communicating the highest of expectations of performance.
- Promote the highest level of professionalism and ethics
- Possess thorough knowledge of concrete installation and site work installation
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Safety
- Recognize unsafe acts or operations and do not let them continue
- Ensure all workers, subcontractors and jobsite personnel are wearing the proper PPE
- Holding weekly safety meetings
- Understand Company safety rules and regulations
- Understand Project specific safety concerns
- Proper use and care of company property (tools, equipment, vehicles)
Other
- Knowledge of ADA standards
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel, Microsoft Project skills a plus.
- Familiarity with KCMO, MoDOT and KDOT paperwork a plus.
- Spanish & English communication skills a plus
