Field Superintendent - Construction oversees the daily construction activities of contractors, foremen, and workers at a work site to ensure projects follow schedules. Coordinates the procurement, delivery, and placement of materials and equipment on-site as required to execute each phase of a construction project. Being a Field Superintendent - Construction follows construction schedules and monitors daily and weekly progress to ensure project milestones are achieved. Troubleshoots any issues involving workers, contractors, safety, quality, changes, or processes and expedites solutions to keep the project on track. Additionally, Field Superintendent - Construction directs or conducts inspections to audit the quality of workmanship and materials and compliance with specifications and standards. Completes the required status, change, or timekeeping reports. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a project manager. The Field Superintendent - Construction supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Field Superintendent - Construction typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. TMG's Superintendent II provides the knowledge, skills, and experience required to manage the day-to-day field operations of task orders and/or larger lump-sum institutional and/or commercial construction projects. Superintendent II's are responsible for the production aspects of the work and is accountable for producing quality work that is constructed consistent with the standards set forth in the project's contract documents; performing the work in a timely and cost-effective manner and; maintaining a work environment that is safe and continuously kept clean and orderly. Superintendent II's are the forward face of TMG and is responsible for establishing a professional work environment that includes: fostering a positive atmosphere, promoting proactive and effective communication, facilitating problem solving, and for minimizing and resolving conflict in a constructive manner.
Scope of Superintendent II Position
Supervises multiple trades of subcontractors and self-performance staff on all aspects of multiple small projects or large projects from start-up to completion with an approximate volume of $5-10 million.
Essential Functions of Superintendent II Position
Strong working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, or electrical discipline and a strong understanding of the other disciplines. Strong working knowledge of construction means and methods associated with the renovation and construction of commercial and institutional buildings and site work. The ability to effectively communicate with management, subcontractors, customers, and peer groups. Ability to travel to different job sites within a designated geographical area.
