Finance Director directs an organization's financial policies, planning, reporting and controls. Oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, risk, tax, and treasury. Being a Finance Director generally is the second most senior finance executive. Requires a master's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent. Additionally, Finance Director may require the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Typically reports to chief financial officer (CFO). The Finance Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Position Summary: Directs and evaluates the performance of all accounting operations by supervising finance staff, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and overseeing timely preparation of a variety of financial accounts, procedures, and reports. Assesses and forecasts department performance and generates reports for management review. Ensures department performs in compliance with relevant accounting regulations and standards. Coordinates with other department leaders and external stakeholders to guide and facilitate accounting procedures. May act in the absence of Chief Financial Officer.
