Position Title: Director of Finance
Reports To: Superintendent
Primary Function:
Assures the smooth and efficient operation of a well-organized financial office in a friendly and professional manner. Directs the financial and business affairs of the school system with responsibility for coordinating accounting, budgeting, auditing payroll, record management, cash management, and property inventory.
Requirements:
? Educational Level: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration for Accounting or related field or 3 years experience as a school Finance Director/Manager or 5 years of experience in governmental accounting or 5 years of experience in preparation of governmental financial statements is required. Formal training in software for financial analysis and reporting is preferred.
? Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, ability to operate office machinery and deal with multiple tasks, advanced spreadsheets skills, typing and proofreading skills.
? Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills and stamina to perform essential duties.
? Salary: CCSS Classified Salary Schedule – A34, 240 days
GENERAL

24. Supervises and evaluates personnel assigned to department.
25. Transmits required state and federal reports in a timely manner.
26. Provides overall leadership and direction to the Financial/Business Services Division.
27. Develops goals and objectives with division administrators.
28. Develops the procedures for formulation of school system budgets. Directs budget management, including coordinating, preparation and fiscal monitoring.
29. Compiles necessary statistical data for preparation of the annual school system budget and directs the development of school system budgets.
30. Monitors/administers the approved budgets during the fiscal year.
31. Reports major deviations from the approved budget to the superintendent and acts as advisor to the superintendent on the school budget and all business and financial questions.
32. Coordinates the periodic revisions of the budget.
33. Directs the reporting of financial services’ data to all appropriate users. Submits monthly financial report to the Board.
34. Prepares the annual financial statements, notes and schedules.
35. Directs the processing, reporting and distribution of payroll.
36. Directs the auditing and property control system of all school assets and maintains a current inventory of school assets.
37. Supervises the collection, safekeeping and distribution of all funds.
38. Directs the application of proper financial procedures for local schools and central office personnel.
39. Manages the investment of the school district’s funds.
40. Encourages and facilitates communications among divisions, departments, and schools.
41. Represents the superintendent at designated meetings.
42. Interviews and recommends candidates for positions in the Financial/Business Services Division.
43. Oversees the audits the Student Activity accounts at each school
44. Serves as System Administrator for financial software.
45. Demonstrates loyalty to the school, school system and administrators.
46. Enhances the climate of the building and the morale of colleagues.
47. Performs other duties as requested.
