Finance Director directs an organization's financial policies, planning, reporting and controls. Oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, risk, tax, and treasury. Being a Finance Director generally is the second most senior finance executive. Requires a master's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent. Additionally, Finance Director may require the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Typically reports to chief financial officer (CFO). The Finance Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Finance Director (Administration) - Oversee all aspects of the Finance Department in developing, monitoring, and
maintaining an estimated $8 million budget. Maintain compliance with federal, state, local and foundation grants.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, local laws, including payroll and payroll tax compliance. Prepare financial
statements and reports for the governing body. Prepare for all audits, provide fiscal management, supervise
accounting department staff, and provide technical assistance and information to the Executive Director, Board of
Directors, Finance Committee, grantors, auditors, staff and vendors.
