Finance Director directs an organization's financial policies, planning, reporting and controls. Oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, risk, tax, and treasury. Being a Finance Director generally is the second most senior finance executive. Requires a master's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent. Description
The Director of Finance is responsible for leading all aspects of the Center’s financial operation. This includes financial reporting, accounts receivable and accounts payable management, grant support and comprehensive budget administration. The Director of Finance is also tasked with producing accurate financial reports, maintaining accounting records, ensuring the precise processing of financial transactions and overseeing a system of controls and budgets and policy documents. These responsibilities are designed to mitigate financial risk, enhance financial reporting accuracy in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), adhere to grant management standards and facilitate successful audits.
KEYS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Directs and manages the financials programs and supporting information systems of the center, to include budgeting, receipt of revenue, expenditure of funds and conservation of assets.
2. Ensures compliance with appropriate Center, third party and government regulations and policies.
3. Ensures maintenance of appropriate internal control procedures and safeguards
4. Establishes and maintains financial records systems in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and account principles.
5. Prepares for annual audit and works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
6. Coordinates the preparation of financial statements, financials reports, special analyses and information reports; presents recommendations for programmatic and fiscal change.
7. Provides strategic consultations and leadership on financial issues, to include financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation and revenue and expense analysis.
8. Provides consultative support to managers and leadership in planning initiative through management and financial information analyses, reports and recommendations.
9. Oversees the supervision of finance personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions, motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
10. Establishes and implements short and long range organizational financial goals that support agency objectives and policies.
11. Implements and maintains appropriate Information Technology systems and practices.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
· A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting management preferred
· Strong organizational and analytical skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
