Finance Director jobs in Newark, NJ

DESCRIPTION:

The Associated Humane Societies is hiring a Director of Finance to join our team in Newark, NJ. This position will be responsible for overseeing the financial books and records of a $10 million non-profit animal welfare organization. Qualified candidates should have 5 years of non-profit accounting experience, be proficient in QuickBooks and have managed a financial accounting department. CPA license is preferred but not required. Strong analytical and organizational skills are required.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all financial activities of the organization
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
• Manage the accounting team and their daily operations
• Ensure that current accounting policies are continually implemented
• Implement expense control procedures and recommend cost saving initiatives
• Ensure the outside audit and outside regulatory filings are completed on a timely basis
• Prepare annual budgets across all locations
• Other duties as assigned by CEO

Qualifications:

• Must have good communication skills
• Must have basic computer experience (Microsoft Suite, Office 365, QuickBooks)
• Must have 5 years of non-profit accounting experience
• CPA license preferred
• Minimum one year in animal welfare a plus

Position Details:

• 9am-5pm, M-F Full Time
