Finance Director directs an organization's financial policies, planning, reporting and controls. Oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, risk, tax, and treasury. Being a Finance Director generally is the second most senior finance executive. Requires a master's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent. Additionally, Finance Director may require the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Typically reports to chief financial officer (CFO). The Finance Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Finance Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     About the Role

    The Director of Finance will be responsible for executing the internal finance infrastructure, policies, and systems to achieve program and strategic objectives for a fast-paced organization. As a member of the executive management team, the director will be involved in strategic planning and will lead the development of the annual budget for El Programa Hispano Católico. This role will continue evolving organizational responsiveness in the critical areas of finance and financial reporting, accounting, forecasting, and long-term planning.

    How You'll Have an Impact

    Finance and Accounting:

    • Provides clear, timely financial information and analysis to executive management and Board of Directors
    • Serves as the primary liaison to the Board Finance Committee
    • Develops & manages monthly financial reports & statements.
    • Oversees all accounting and payroll.
    • Continuously improves internal financial controls and efficiencies.
    • Plans and executes the annual budget process and provides budget support/training for Program Managers.
    • Manages cash flow, investments, and banking relationships.
    • Provides financial information for new grant submissions.
    • Ensure transactions are processed in compliance with GAAP, federal cost principles, and the organization's fiscal policies and procedures.
    • Monitors budget/fiscal compliance with grants and contracts
    • Manages the financial audit, prepares schedules and assists auditors, facilitates the audit presentation to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors, and ensures that the audit recommendations are implemented appropriately.
    • Support the executive management team in executing internal operational goals to ensure annual objectives are achieved.
    • Fosters a strong sense of problem-solving, partnership, and integration among all departments.
    • Through actions and demeanor, creates a positive, productive office environment that promotes EPHC culture and values daily.
    • Supervises four accounting staff.

    Additional Duties:

    • Assist in developing and implementing systems, policies, and procedures that will improve the organization's overall operational effectiveness, promote quality, and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
    • Understand and adhere to confidentiality.
    • Input data and maintain Organization and/or contractually required information database systems.
    • Contribute to fostering a safe and secure environment for community members and staff.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

    What We Are Looking For

    • Entrepreneurial and visionary team player who can impact operations at both strategic and implementational levels.
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related area (advanced degree preferred)
    • Five plus years of progressive experience managing the financial operations for a non-profit, foundation, or business, including experience with budgeting, accounting, payroll/benefits, and financial reporting; knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles for non-profits.
    • Excellent management skills; able to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers; demonstrates leadership in a collaborative, inclusive team environment.
    • Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including the ability to interface with staff, board of directors, and community partners.
    • Technologically savvy; experience working with financial databases and systems. Prior experience with Sage Intacct accounting software is strongly preferred.
    • Self-reliant, resourceful, energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; demonstrates integrity, credibility, and commitment to EPHC's mission.
    • Sound judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
    • Demonstrated experience managing financial aspects of Federal, State, County, City, and other jurisdictions' contracts and grants.
    • Working knowledge of Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200, preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret government regulations
    • Experience working with diverse populations is strongly preferred.
    • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
    • Proficient computer skills including Web-based research, MS Office, Database

    Other Requirements:

    • Ability to travel out of town to attend workshops or training.
    • Applicants must be able to work a variety of hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
    • Applicants must have access to reliable transportation for work-related duties.
    • Applicants must be able to successfully pass background checks.

    Salary Range: Salary of $110,000-$125,00 (annually). Salary commensurate with experience.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • The employee may be required to sit for extended periods.
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
    • Hybrid/remote work environment, though frequent in-person meetings will be required.

    Supervisor: Executive Director

    Status: 1.00 Full-Time (40 hours/week)

    Location: Most of the work performed by this position can be accomplished in a hybrid/remote work environment, though frequent in-person meetings will be required. There are times that work requires in-person, onsite activities. On-site work is located at EPHC's offices in Gresham, OR. Job duties may require occasional travel and evening and weekend work, depending on project deadlines.
