Finance Director directs an organization's financial policies, planning, reporting and controls. Oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, risk, tax, and treasury. Being a Finance Director generally is the second most senior finance executive. Requires a master's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent. Additionally, Finance Director may require the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Typically reports to chief financial officer (CFO). The Finance Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Finance Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. The Sr. Director of Finance (SDOF, Director) is responsible for the financial administration of NDI, including oversight of all finance, accounting, and reporting activities. This role leads the finance department and works collaboratively with the executive leadership team to provide education, training, and best practices to support program operations.
The Sr. Director of Finance will prepare, analyze, and interpret periodic financial reports for management information, decision making and facilitate annual audits of the organization’s financials and lead the budget preparation and synchronizing activities.
The Sr. Director is a member of NDI’s executive leadership team and reports to the Executive Director, while leading a department of three.
