FINANCE MANAGER / CONTROLLER  ------ NEW OPPORTUNITY AWAITS!

Photonis Scientific, Inc. in Sturbridge, MA, specializes in the design, development and manufacture of leading-edge detectors and electro-optics for the transport and identification of ions, electrons, UV Photons and Soft X-Rays. We hold a number of patents on our innovative technologies which include a wide range of electron multipliers, resistive glass, and fast photonic technologies.  

 As part of our growth strategy we have an opportunity for a Finance Manager/Controller in our Sturbridge facility. The primary responsibility of this position will be to assume a strategic role in the overall management of Photonis Scientific, Inc. Operations with primary day-to-day responsibility of planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities.  The position reports to the Photonis Scientific GM/President with functional reporting to Corporate CFO

 Key Responsibilities:

• Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions for Photonis Scientific, Inc. 
• Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoice/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general accounting, cost account, etc.  Ensure all financial statements and tables are correct and precise.   
• Prepare and present the monthly reporting package for Scientific, Inc. to GM/President and Corporate CFO.   
• Develop, improve and issue timely monthly/quarterly financial records to the Executive Team (US and France). 
• Prepare cashflow projections and manage funds to ensure adequate bank balances are maintained. 

• Prepare projections annually and update monthly with actual financials and rolling forecasts. 

• Manage, supervise and support to accounting team – currently one direct report.
• Maintain renewals on company insurances 
• Prepare monthly sales and use tax returns 
• Provide leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term financial objectives and provide advice to the President/GM of Photonis Scientific, Inc. 
• Provide timely and accurate analysis of financial trends, business segment analysis, new business cases, manufacturing costs, cost of goods sold (COGS) and gross margin analysis.
• Manage processes for budgets and reporting and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions 
• Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities 
• Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting 
• Safeguard assets 

• Coordinate with the tax division of the domestic and international company and prepare any schedules required for tax returns

• Interface with outside Audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casually/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies and 401(k) trustee 

• Support and Encourage understanding and use of the ISO 9001 based Quality Management System

Competencies

• Working knowledge of ERP systems 
• Proficient in GAAP accounting rules

• Understanding of inventories valuation and margin analysis 
• Ability to communicate and interact with people on an individual or group level

Education and Experience

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from four-year college or university 
• CPA license 
• Five or more years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred 
• Previous experience working with SAGE is a plus
• Working knowledge of US & state tax rules 
• Knowledge of IFRS is a plus 
• Working experience in a corporation having subsidiaries outside of the U.S.
