Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Aid, the Assistant Director has the responsibility to ensure quality customer service and delivery of student aid to prospective and current students and families while assuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.

Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree plus three years of progressively responsible experience in a financial aid office at an advisor/counselor level or above or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
- In-depth knowledge of Title IV programs and federal and state regulations.
- Knowledge of integrated financial aid systems is required - Datatel preferred.
- Must be organized, detail oriented, able to multi-task and work independently.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are imperative.
- Ability to collaborate with others and exercise sensitivity to matters of confidentiality.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to student service.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires sitting for long periods of time in front of a computer, and may require additional hours during peak times. Sedentary work. Keyboarding, talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Close visual acuity. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Essential Functions:
- Collect, verify, and/or analyze financial data on students to determine aid eligibility; makes awards with federal, state, and/or institutional guidelines
- Evaluate unusual/mitigating circumstance documentation provided by students; exercises judgment by adjusting or revisions to costs, family contribution, financial need, or dependency status
- Assist the Associate Director of Financial Aid in managing the disbursement of funds process for federal, state, and institutional funds.
- Responsible for a student case load in processing aid.
- Oversee the Federal Work Study (FWS) program
- Responsible for Financial Aid Office FWS students workers.
- Work collaboratively with other offices to process financial aid for students.
- Answer questions, inquiries, or requests from students, parents, or campus constituencies regarding financial aid programs.
- Monitor reconciliation procedures for Federal work study programs.
- Report to Director Campus based data for FISAP
- Independently develop and implement new program initiatives and develops and maintains appropriate quality control programs to ensure effective program operations.
- Ensure timely, effective service to students, families, and other constituencies on financial aid matters.
- Responsible for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeals, procedures and inquiries.
- Assist in the preparation of and presents information regarding financial aid to various on- and off-campus groups.
- Assist in providing training to staff in financial aid procedures and processes.
- Analyze various system-generated reports such as grades and enrollment status to verify compliance and eligibility of students receiving aid under federal and institutional guidelines.
- Stay current of federal Title IV regulations.
